Step into the jungles of East Africa for a short safari like no other. DAYS 1 - 2, Kampala, Kabale
Uganda (Winston Churchill’s ‘Pearl of Africa’) is a friendly and surprisingly green country. From Kampala, Uganda’s vibrant capital city set amidst seven hills, we pass through Mbarara and Kabale, often called the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ and stop at Lake Bunyoni. Bunyoni is a picturesque lake in the Kigezi Highlands, an ancient flooded valley strangely void of any fish despite being one of the deepest lakes in Africa.

DAYS 3 - 5, Gorilla Trek
From here we journey on through long valleys of banana plantations and tiny villages to the dense forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (or forests to the south if necessary) for the ost exciting part of our trip - a trek to see the mountain gorillas. Bwindi is home to approximately half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas and this region of Africa is the only area in the world where they live in their natural habitat.

On our trek local guides lead us through thick mountain jungle. It can be hard going but all the effort is forgotten when we fi nally come face to face with these magnifi cent creatures. Gorillas are very sociable and live in families of 12-20 individuals, led by a dominant male (the so-called ‘Silverback’) together with several adult females and numerous young. We have a one hour ‘audience’ with these gentle giants which promises to be a truly memorable experience.

Group sizes on trek are kept small to minimise the impact on the sensitive natural habitat so we may therefore spend several days here allowing all members of the group to view the gorillas. Community visits and forest walks can be taken around this beautiful area when not trekking for gorillas.

DAY 6, Kampala
We travel though Uganda’s rural heartland, through small villages and farmland where avocado and pawpaw trees line our route to arrive back in Kampala, where are safari ends. Step into the jungles of East Africa for a short safari like no other.
